Ugh yes the chat thing is REAL. My son's "harmless racing game" turned into some random person asking for his Instagram at 9pm on a Tuesday.
I get not wanting to go full lockdown mode. What worked for us was SpyBubble Pro - lets you set app timers without nuking everything, and you can actually see what's happening in chats which was eye-opening lol. Found out he'd been sent some sketchy Discord link that definitely wasn't about car mods.
The time limit thing is clutch too because now "just 5 more minutes mom" doesn't turn into 2 hours. App just locks when time's up, no negotiations.
They need some freedom but also...supervision because the internet is WILD out there
